KfW funding for buildings

Renovate for more living comfort, break-in protection and energy efficiency

Those looking to renovate their house or apartment shouldn’t forget about their entrance doors. Modern multipoint locking systems not only boast increased break-in protection, they also help to increase a building’s energy efficiency. Motor locks with SmartHome technology can also be retrofitted to make operating your front and side/back doors even more convenient.

There are lots of different possibilities for funding your renovation projects. With the “Bundesförderung für effiziente Gebäude (BEG)” [Federal Funding for Efficient Buildings] provided by KfW Bank, you can receive a subsidy or apply for an attractive loan for energy-related renovation projects on your existing property. This includes Effizienzhaus renovations and all of the related specialist planning and construction support required.

You can find all the information you need on the different funding programmes and how to apply on the KfW website. You can use the non-binding advance check to see if your planned measures meet all of the relevant requirements to apply for funding.

You can apply to the Federal Office of Economics and Export Control (BAFA) for individual energy-related measures. Individual measures for existing buildings that aim to increase the building’s energy efficiency through improvements to the building shell (e.g. windows or doors and exterior wall/attic insulation) are all eligible for funding.

However, you must apply for this funding before starting the renovation work and all work must be carried out by a specialist company.

Loan for age-appropriate conversion

Those looking to renovate living spaces to improve accessibility and ensure more living comfort and break-in protection for older residents can apply for a promotional loan from the KfW, regardless of age. This includes installation of burglar-resistant front, side/back and apartment doors and age-appropriate assistance systems.

SmartHome applications can also make it easier for residents to orient themselves and communicate better (e.g. through lighting and intercom systems). With its SmartConnect door, FUHR offers an interactive video intercom system for this purpose that can be operated easily and conveniently using a smartphone or tablet.
